In the 2023 Asia Cup, the highly anticipated clash between India and Pakistan was disrupted by heavy rain in Colombo for the second time. India, led by Rohit Sharma, were at 147 for two in 24.1 overs when the rain hit at the R Premadasa Stadium.
Pakistan, after winning the toss, chose to field, but India’s opening duo, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, put up a formidable partnership, scoring half-centuries and adding 121 runs for the first wicket.
Virat Kohli and KL Rahul remained unbeaten with 8 and 17 runs, respectively, as rain forced a halt to the game. The cutoff time for a 20-over match was 10:36 PM on that Sunday. If India didn’t resume their innings, Pakistan would have faced a revised target of around 180 runs in 20 overs according to the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method. Pitch inspections occurred at 7:30 PM and 8:30 PM, but intermittent rain led to the postponement of the India-Pakistan Super Four clash to a reserve day.

On the reserve day (Monday), the match will resume from the same score. A minimum of 20 overs per side is required for a result.
