Following their defeat to Australia in the World Test Championship final, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will not make hasty decisions and will not make significant adjustments for the upcoming two-Test series against the West Indies. However, it is clear that young talents like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad are part of the Indian Test team’s plans for the future.

Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, the Test team will play two Test matches in Trinidad and Dominica, starting on July 12.

Looking ahead to the Border-Gavaskar series in Australia, which is India’s final assignment of the 2023-2025 WTC cycle, the selectors aim to build a team with a blend of youth and experience. Players like Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli, who are in a similar age range, are expected to be part of the team for that series as per reports in the Indian Express.

Yashasvi Jaiswal from Mumbai and Ruturaj Gaikwad from Maharashtra are part of the future plans for the Indian Test team. However, their inclusion in the team might not happen immediately and they may have to wait for an opportunity.

The transition is expected to take place after the West Indies series, with only one spot opening up at a time depending on the performances of the established batsmen. Following the two Tests in the West Indies, India is scheduled to play South Africa in Test matches in December.

Considering that there will be a gap of more than five months between these two tours and no first-class cricket scheduled during that period, India intends to stick with their experienced batsmen for the time being.

Both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who have been in good form, have been selected by the selectors for the West Zone team in the Duleep Trophy, which is set to begin on June 28 in Bengaluru.
