As the 2023 ODI World Cup approaches, one of India’s most celebrated cricketers, Ravichandran Ashwin, predicts a victorious outcome for the Men in Blue.

India’s previous World Cup win in 2011, under the leadership of MS Dhoni, was on home soil and Ashwin believes the team’s impressive track record in home conditions gives them a strong chance of repeating history.

“India have won 14 out of 18 ODIs played at home after the 2019 World Cup in England, with a win percentage of 78-80 percent,” Ashwin stated.

“The four defeats came in Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, and Lucknow, where Dew played a big role. The Men in Blue have batted first and posted totals that they believe are par and par-plus,” He added further.

With the current ODI series against New Zealand already in India’s favor, the team’s confidence and preparation for the World Cup is looking strong.

India's bowling coach said – "Ravi Ashwin's point is valid. If you look at it, dew does play a part at some venues. When the ball does get old, it tilts in favour of the batting side. The ball doesn't spin, ball comes nicely off the wicket. The dew factor makes batting easy".

Will India bring home the Cup once again? Only time will tell, but Ashwin’s prediction has fans excited for the team’s potential success.
