For the upcoming 2023-24 season, West Indies has revealed the latest Central Contract list for both Men’s and Women’s sides. Contracts are awarded based on player performances from the 2022 to 2023 evaluation period, following recommendations from Selection Panels and approval by the Board of Directors.

In the Men’s list, left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie, right-handed batter Keacy Carty, and left-handed batters Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Alick Athanaze have earned central contracts for the first time. Meanwhile, in the Women’s list, all-rounders Zaida James and Sheneta Grimmond are notable additions.

Notably absent from the Men’s list are veterans Jason Holder, Kyle Mayers, and Nicholas Pooran, who declined central contracts but expressed their availability for all West Indies T20 Internationals during the contract year, keeping the door open for potential inclusion in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad. Both Holder and Pooran have previously captained West Indies.

He emphasized the focus on building a competitive team for the home soil tournament and also mentioned significant Test Series in Australia and England, along with preparations for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 in the 50-over format.
