IPL 2022, DC VS KKR: Delhi triumphs by 44 runs

DC vs KKR, the 19th match of Tata IPL 2022, was a high scoring affair in which Delhi Capitals posted a huge score of 215 runs on the board.

Prithvi Shaw and David Warner scored half-centuries while Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur played handy knocks in the death overs.

Kolkata Knight Riders lost quick wickets in the middle that derailed their chase, and they ultimately fell short by 44 runs.

DC vs KKR Highlights:

DC Innings:

Delhi Capitals had a blazing start, with Shaw and Warner going bonkers during the powerplay. The duo formed a stand of 93 runs in just 8.4 overs before Shaw was bowled through the gate by mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy.

Prithvi Shaw notched up 51 off 29 to set the stage for the middle-order batsman. Rishabh Pant walked in to bat at three and maintain the tempo of the inning. Pant and Warner carried on the fireworks and formed a 57 run stand for the 2nd wicket.

Pant played a cameo of 27 off 14. After Pant’s dismissal, Capitals had a flurry of wickets, with Lalit Yadav and Rovman Powell not being able to reach the double figures while Warner departed for a well-made 61 off 45.

Shardul Thakur and Axar Patel were brilliant in the death overs and played enterprising knocks of 29* and 21* respectively, to propel Delhi to 215/5 in 20 overs.

KKR Inning:

Chasing a huge total, KKR needed partnership at the front to put them on the map. However, Ajinkya Rahane and Venkatesh Iyer did not last for long, and KKR found themselves at 38-2 in about 5 overs.

Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana built a partnership in the middle and counterattacked the Capitals’ bowling. Nitish Rana scored 30 before Lalit Yadav sent him back into the dressing room.

Iyer soon followed Rana in the dressing room after scoring 54 off 33. Kuldeep Yadav sent him back to tighten the grasp of Delhi on the match. After Iyer’s departure, KKR had no significant partnership to take them to the finish line.

Kuldeep picked four wickets, including the dangerous Pat Cummins and Sunil Narine, to win the match for Delhi Capitals.
