IPL 2022, DC VS RR: All rounder Marsh Keeps DC Alive

DC vs RR at DY Patil Stadium in Pune witnessed the resurgence of Delhi Capitals to heavily defeat Rajasthan Royals and keep them in the contention for the playoffs. With the victory over RR, Delhi has registered its 6th win of the tournament in 12 games. Delhi Capitals comfortably chased down 161 with 8 wickets and 10 balls to spare.

DC vs RR Highlights:

Delhi Capitals won the toss and opted to field first in the game.

Playing XIs:

DC: David Warner, Srikar Bharat, Mitchell Marsh, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Lalit Yadav, Rovman Powell, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Chetan Sakariya, Anrich Nortje

RR: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson (c & wk), Devdutt Padikkal, Rassie van der Dussen, Riyan Parag, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Sen

RR Inning:

Jos Buttler’s dream form is starting to fade away as the group stage is coming to a conclusion in Tata IPL 2022. Buttler registered only 7 runs in 11 balls. Yashasvi Jaiswal, the hero of the previous game for RR, could only contribute 19 runs with a modest strike rate of 100.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Devdutt Padikkal looked solid in the middle but failed to launch the Rajasthan inning at the end. Ashwin scored 50 off 38, while Padikkal notched up 48 off 30. Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag did not hurt the Delhi bowlers, and Rajasthan finished with 160 in 20 overs.

DC Inning:

Delhi was forced to open with Srikar Bharat and David Warner as Prithvi Shaw has been ruled out of the tournament. Bharat was dismissed for a duck. Mitchell Marsh replaced him on the crease and looked to be struggling in the beginning.

However, Marsh gained confidence after sending a few balls to the boundaries and started his assault on the RR bowlers. He left Delhi in the match-winning position by scoring 89 off 62. David Warner remained unbeaten on 52 off 41 in the DC vs RR clash.
