GT vs CSK, the 29th match of Tata IPL 2022, was all about David Miller’s gritty and destructive inning that handed Chennai Super Kings their fifth loss of the tournament.
GT vs CSK Highlights:
Hardik Pandya could not compete in the game due to a niggle, and Rashid Khan took the responsibility of captaining the side. Gujarat won the toss and elected to bowl first.
CSK Inning:
CSK did not have a great start as the man in form Robin Uthappa departed quickly after scoring only 3 off 10.
Moeen Ali could not add too much to the total as well and scored only one run in the three balls he faced.
Rayudu and Ruturaj Gaikwad put up a solid 92 run stand for the 3rd wicket to bring CSK into the game.
However, Rayudu’s dismissal brought a standstill to the scoring rate, and Ruturaj Gaikwad soon followed him in the dressing-room.
Rayudu scored 46 off 31, while Gaikwad managed 73 off 48, including 5 fours and 5 sixes.
A burst from Ravindra Jadeja in the death overs saw CSK post 169/5 in the 20 overs. Jadeja played a handy unbeaten knock of 22* off 12.
GT Inning:
Gujarat perhaps had the worst start they could imagine. Gill departed for a golden duck while Wriddhiman Shah and Vijay Shankar played too many dots in their insignificant innings.
The youngster Abhinav Manohar also had an ordinary outing, in which he scored 12 off 12. Gujarat was in deep trouble at 48/4 in 8 overs.
They needed someone to step up and bat throughout the inning to ensure a victory against Super Kings. David Miller did exactly that as he played a flamboyant unbeaten inning of 94* to take his side home.
He formed an important 70 run partnership for the 6th wicket with skipper Rashid Khan to change the course of the match. Rashid smashed Jordan in the 18th over to completely change the match in favour of Gujarat Titans. Khan scored 40 off 21.
Gujarat Titans won the game with 3 wickets to spare.
