IPL 2022, GT VS PBKS: Kings crush Titans by 8 Wickets

Punjab Kings defeated Gujarat Titans by 8 wickets and 4 overs to spare to register their fifth win of the tournament and rise to the fifth position in the points table. Even though Gujarat Titans lost the GT vs PBKS, they still reign supreme as the leader of the points table with 8 wins in 10 games. Nevertheless, this win against the in-form Titans will provide the much-required boost to the Punjab Kings to pursue their goal of making it to the playoffs.

GT vs PBKS Highlights:

Gujarat Titans won the toss and opted to bat first. Hardik Pandya said that he wants the team to get out of their comfort zone of chasing the targets.

Playing XIs:

GT Inning:

Gujarat Titans kept losing wickets at regular intervals during their stay at the crease. Shubman Gill’s unfortunate run-out started the process that became the reason for Gujarat’s loss in the game.

Sai Sudarshan, the young batter, was the only one to show skills and application to take his team to a respectable total. He remained unbeaten on 65* off 50. Barring him, no other GT batter crossed the 30 run mark.

Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the bowlers as he dismissed four Gujarat batters to ultimately brag the player of the match award.

PBKS Inning:

Mayank Agarwal chose to not open the innings, and the new combo of Shikhar Dhawan and Johnny Bairstow was formed at the top. However, Bairstow failed to repay the faith in him as he could add only 1 run to the PBKS tally.

Shikhar Dhawan and Bhanuka Rajapaksa had a  fabulous partnership for the 2nd wicket. Rajapaksa scored 40 off 28, while Dhawan remained unbeaten on 62*.

Liam Livingstone finished the game in style in the 16th over against Shami by smashing 28 runs in the over.
