GT VS PBKS Highlights:
PBKS Inning:
Mayank Agarwal again disappointed the PBKS camp and could only manage 5 off 9 in his short stay at the crease. Newly included Johnny Bairstow also did not make an impact and scored only 8 off 8. Shikhar Dhawan and Liam Livingstone combined in the middle to steer Punjab’s boat in the match.
Shikhar played an anchoring role while Liam Livingstone hammered the Titans bowler to keep the scoring rate healthy. Dhawan made 35 off 30 while Livingstone played a blistering knock of 64 off 27, consisting of 7 fours and 4 sixes in GT vs PBKS battle.
Jitesh Sharma and Shahrukh Khan also looked threatening in their little stay at the crease. The former scored 23 off 11, while Shahrukh made 15 off 8. However, Punjab Kings lost a few quick wickets before the death overs and found themselves in a tricky spot.
Rahul Chahar played an unbeaten enterprising knock of 22 runs to take Punjab to 189/9 in 20 overs.
GT Inning:
Chasing a huge total, Gujarat Titans needed one of their options to carry the innings. Mathew Wade departed on 6 but Shubman Gill played his career-best knock in the Indian Premier League.
Gill and Sai Sudharsan formed a 101 run stand for the 2nd wicket to put Gujarat in a commanding position in the GT vs PBKS clash. Sai scored 35 before Rahul Chahar sent him back into the pavilion. On the other hand, Gill continued his fireworks but the run rate took a hit due to the new batter at the crease.
Suddenly the pressure piled up and both Gill and Pandya found it hard to score boundaries. Gill mistimed one in the 19th over and departed for a well made 96 off 59, including 11 fours and a six.
With Gill’s wicket and Hardik Pandya’s unfortunate run-out, Gujarat Titans found themselves on the back foot in the last over. On the last two balls of the match, Gujarat needed 12 to win with Rahul Tewatia in the batters’ stead.
Punjab had almost sealed the victory but Tewatia pulled off a miracle to deposit Odean Smith for consecutive sixes over the mid-wicket to ultimately triumph in the exhilarating GT vs PBKS clash.
