RCB Inning:
Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis came out to open the proceedings from Royal Challengers. The RCB skipper could not make an impact as Pradeep Sangwan, making a comeback after four years in IPL, sent him back on a duck.
Rajat Patidar joined Kohli in the middle after Faf’s departure. Patidar and Kohli cautiously batted not to give away any wickets to the opposition. Both batters reached their fifties. And just when it felt like that RCB would step foot on the pedestal, a flurry of wickets derailed their momentum.
Patidar scored 52 off 32, Kohli collected 58 off 53, while Karthik and Ahmed failed to reach the double figures. Maxwell put up a resistance and elevated his team’s score to a fighting chance. Maxwell contributed 33 off 18. RCB posted 170/6 in the 20 overs.
GT Inning:
Gujarat Titans had a steady start with Wriddhiman Saha leading the charge. Shubman Gill could not get going and scored almost with a strike rate of 100. Hasaranga broke their partnership to provide RCB with a chance to make a comeback. Saha scored 29 off 22.
Gill, Hardik Pandya and Sai Sudarshan followed Saha into the dressing room pretty soon, and GT suddenly looked in trouble. In the last 5 overs, they needed 58 runs with Tewatia and Miller in the middle.
RCB could not contain the onslaught from Tewatia and Miller. The duo snatched the game from Royal Challengers with some quick boundaries in the final overs. Tewatia remained unbeaten on 43 off 25, while Miller stayed not out on 39 off 24.
