LSG vs MI, the 26th match of the tournament, was all about KL Rahul‘s unbeaten 103* that helped Super Giants defeat Mumbai Indians by 18 runs.
LSG vs MI Highlights:
Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bowl first, only to end up conceding 199 runs in the 20 overs.
LSG Inning:
KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock provided Lucknow with a blazing start. De Kock played a shot but important inning of 24 off 13 to set the tone for Super Giants batters.
Rahul combined with Manish Pandey to construct a destructive 72 run stand for the 2nd wicket. Pandey and Rahul had Lucknow on course for scoring more than 200 runs. However, Murugun Ashwin dismissed Pandey on 38 to put some brakes on the Super Giants’ inning.
KL Rahul took it upon himself after Pandey’s departure to get his team closer to 200. Rahul took apart Tymal Mills and Fabian Allen to help Lucknow post 199/4 in 20 overs. Rahul scored 103* off 60, including 5 sixes and 9 fours in the LSG vs MI clash.
Marcus Stoinis and Deepak Hooda also had their turns to bat but the former added only 10 runs to the total while the latter contributed 15 runs. Krunal also played 1 ball to score 1 run.
MI Inning:
Mumbai needed a big start from their openers, but Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan again disappointed their fans. Rohit scored only 6 off 7 while Ishan managed 13 off 17 in the LSG vs MI clash.
Dewald Brevis again impressed with his short but fascinating burst in the middle. He put MI back in the hunt by scoring a quickfire 31 off 13 that included 6 fours and a six.
Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma built a partnership for the 4th wicket to keep MI on track, but Tilak’s wicket once again opened up the doors for Lucknow Super Giants. Tilak scored run a ball 23.
Suryakumar Yadav was livid with himself when he mistimed one of Ravi Bishnoi’s bowling to get dismissed. He was looking threatening with Keiron Pollard, but his dismissal was the final nail in the coffin for Mumbai Indians.
Yadav scored 37 while Pollard scored 25 off 14 but could not pull their team out of troubled waters. MI ended its inning on 181/9 in 20 overs to concede the 6th consecutive loss in the tournament.
