IPL 2022, LSG VS PBKS: Lucknow wins the lackluster game

LSG vs PBKS, the 42nd game of Tata IPL 2022, was a poor game that saw both teams performing well below their levels.

Lucknow set a modest total of 153/8 in 20 overs, but Punjab Kings could only muster 133/8 in reply. A truly mundane game that had lost all the interest of viewers.

LSG VS PBKS Highlights:

Punjab Kings won the toss, and Mayank Agarwal opted to bowl first at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Agarwal said that Punjab could perform better if they knew what they were chasing. The simple logic governed his decision for the LSG vs PBKS clash.

Playing XIs:

LSG: Quinton de Kock (wk), KL Rahul (c), Deepak Hooda, Marcus Stoinis, Ayush Badoni, Krunal Pandya, Jason Holder, Dushmantha Chameera, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan

PBKS: Mayank Agarwal (c), Shikhar Dhawan, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Rishi Dhawan, Kagiso Rabada, Rahul Chahar, Sandeep Sharma, Arshdeep Singh

LSG Inning:

KL Rahul could not make an impression and departed only after scoring 6 runs. Quinton De Kock and Deepak Hooda formed a handsome partnership of 85 runs for the second wicket. However, Quinton and Hooda departed in quick succession, and LSG was put on the backfoot.

De Kock scored 46 off 37, while Hooda contributed 34 off 28. With 104/3 in 13.3 overs, Lucknow was set for a big total. However, careless shot-making from the middle-order ensured that they finished with an average score of 153.

PBKS Inning:

Chasing a mere 154, Punjab needed one extensive partnership to get to the total. Shikhar Dhawan could not get going and consumed 15 balls for 5 runs. Mayank was looking in good touch before he threw away at 25 runs.

Punjab kept losing wickets at regular intervals due to poor shot-making. Johnny Bairstow did give them a glimmer of hope with his 32 runs, but it was not enough for Punjab to win the LSG vs PBKS clash.
