IPL 2022, MI VS PBKS: Fearless Punjab hands MI its Fifth Loss

MI vs PBKS, the 23rd match of the tournament, was won by Punjab Kings by 12 runs to hand Mumbai Indians its fifth consecutive loss in Tata IPL 2022.

MI vs PBKS Highlights:

Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bowl first. Both teams remained unchanged from the previous game.

PBKS Inning:

Punjab had a great start with both openers, Shikhar Dhawan and Mayank Agarwal, going on to score half-centuries.

Mayank Agarwal played the aggressor and scored 52 off 32, while Shikhar Dhawan anchored the dining and made 70 off 50 in the MI vs PBKS clash.

Johnny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone had ordinary outings with the bat, but Jitesh Sharma and Shahrukh Khan propelled the Kings’ score.

Jitesh Sharma played an enterprising knock off 30* off 15, while Shahrukh played a quick inning of 15 off 6. Punjab finished on 198/5 in 20 overs.

Jasprit Bumrah was the star bowler for Mumbai Indians as he dismissed a dangerous Liam Livingstone and kept the scoring rate under a lid on his own bowling.

MI Inning:

Mumbai Indians did not have a great start, with Ishan Kishan getting out after scoring only 3 runs. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma, too, got dismissed after a quickfire 28 off 17.

Dewald Brevis and Tilak Varma took the game by the head and turned around the situation in Mumbai’s favour. However, Brevis was dismissed on 49 off 2f by Odean Smith to register a comeback for Punjab Kings.

Tilak Varma and Keiron Pollard were unlucky and found themselves short of the crease on different occasions. 

Suryakumar Yadav did give MI hope in the final overs, but his dismissal was the nail in the coffin for Mumbai Indians. Yadav scored 43 off 30.

Odean Smith was the star bowler for Punjab Kings as he picked up 4 wickets in the MI vs PBKS clash.
