IPL 2023: 3 Players, Apart From MS Dhoni, Who Might Be Playing Their Last IPL Season

These 3 players, just like MS Dhoni, may say goodbye to IPL after IPL 2023.

The 16th edition of IPL is all set to start from March 31. However, this edition may be the last IPL season for some of the cricketers.

One of them is the former Indian captain, MS Dhoni. A CSK official has confirmed InsideSport that it will be Dhoni’s last season and as per schedule, if the Super Kings do not make the playoffs – the match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Chepauk on May 14 would be his last.

Here are 3 players, apart from MS Dhoni, who might be playing their last IPL season in 2023.

1. Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan was pushed out of the ODI team even after being one of the most consistent performers in the format.

Shikhar Dhawan, who will be captaining the Punjab Kings (PBKS) franchise in IPL 2023, was dropped from the T20I team before T20 World Cup 2021 and he didn’t make a comeback in the shortest format of the game, for India, since then.

Hence, Shikhar Dhawan, who will be turning 38 this year, may consider this IPL season as his last one.

2. Amit Mishra

Amit Mishra was surprisingly snapped by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for his base price, Rs. 50 lakhs, in IPL 2023 Auction. The 40-year-old will be playing in the IPL after 3 years.

Amit Mishra represented India in 68 matches. In the 154 IPL games he played, Mishra picked 166 wickets, making him the joint third-highest wicket-taker in IPL.

3. Piyush Chawla

Mumbai Indians (MI) secured the services of Piyush Chawla at his base price of Rs. 50 lakhs in IPL 2023 Auction. Chawla is a World Cup winner, having won the ICC ODI World Cup 2011 that took place in India.

The 34-year-old wily spinner has so far played 165 IPL games and has a lot of experience under his belt.
