The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League will be starting from March 31 and the last league match will be played on May 21. The 10 franchises will play 7 home and 7 away matches during the league phase of the tournament.
Delhi Capitals didn’t have a good auction last year in December. They filled up the remaining slots but failed to sign any players who would walk into their playing XI, as a result of which several big names could find themselves on the sidelines.

Here are three players that Delhi Capitals could bench throughout IPL 2023:
1. Rilee Rossouw
Delhi Capitals bought Rilee Rossouw ₹4.6 crore at IPL 2023 auction. However, the left-arm batsman may find it difficult to get a chance in the playing 11 as David Warner, Rovman Powell, Anrich Nortje, and Mitchell Marsh are likely to be DC’s first-choice overseas players in the upcoming IPL season. Rilee Rossouw may have a slight chance to get featured in the playing 11 if they make Sarfaraz Khan play as the gloveman in Rishabh Pant’s absence.
2. Mukesh Kumar
Delhi Capitals bought Mukesh Kumar for a whopping ₹5.5 crore. Mukesh Kumar, not having much IPL experience, may find it very difficult to get into the playing 11 as Khaleel Ahmed, Chetan Sakariya, and Kamlesh Nagarkoti not only have more IPL experience but are more versatile too.
3. Lungi Ngidi
Lungi Ngidi, who played 13 T20Is in 2022, picking 22 wickets at an average of 16.14 and at an economy rate of 8.84, did not play a single game for DC in IPL 2022. In this year too, DC don’t have room for him in their playing XI. Even if they want support for their express quick, the canny Mustafizur Rahman might be a better option.
