IPL 2023: 3 Uncapped Players to Watch Out

Meet the Three Uncapped Players Set to Take the Tournament by Storm

As the Indian Premier League (IPL) gears up for its 16th edition, fans and experts alike are eagerly anticipating the emergence of new talent. The IPL has always been a breeding ground for young and talented cricketers, and the upcoming season promises to be no different.

With the tournament set to kick off on March 31, all eyes are on the uncapped players who could steal the show this year. In this article, we take a closer look at 3 uncapped players who are primed to make a big impact in IPL 2023.

The first player to watch out for IPL 2023 is Rajat Patidar, who had an outstanding IPL 2022 season with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Despite going unsold in the IPL 2022 mega-auction, Patidar was called up by RCB as an injury replacement for Luvnith Sisodia after RCB had played 2 matches. He became a force to be reckoned with in the middle-order, playing the aggressor’s role while allowing the likes of Du Plessis and Kohli to play the anchor role. In 7 innings, Patidar hammered 333 runs at an average of 55 and a strike rate of 152, his best being 112* (54) in the Eliminator against LSG, which RCB won by only 14 runs.

The second player to watch out for IPL 2023 is Mukesh Choudhary, a left-arm from Bhilwara, Rajasthan, who was picked up by Chennai Super Kings in the absence of the injured Deepak Chahar and Adam Milne. Choudhary didn’t start the tournament well, picking up only 4 wickets in his first 5 matches as CSK sank low. However, he became lethal when he found his rhythm, especially against rivals Mumbai Indians. Choudhary grew in confidence as the season progressed and ended the season with 16 wickets, the second-most in the IPL 2022 by an uncapped bowler after Umran Malik’s 22 wickets.

The third player to watch out for IPL 2023 is Abhishek Sharma, a batting all-rounder from Punjab. He had his breakthrough IPL season in 2022 with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), finishing as their leading scorer with 426 runs. He also adds value as a left-arm spinner. Sharma, who had shown glimpses of his talent in previous editions, finally came into his own last year and was perhaps the only bright spot in an otherwise dismal campaign for SRH. His runs tally of 426 made him the leading scorer for SRH. Abhishek had a good domestic season across formats, and will be looking to build on his IPL 2022 success to catch the eye of the national selectors.
