IPL 2023: Axar Patel to bat at number 4 for Delhi Capitals

Axar Patel can be slotted up in the batting order of Delhi Capitals.

Delhi Capitals have some of the most impactful all-rounders in their squad for IPL 2023. Their list of all-rounders includes Mitchell Marsh, Lalit Yadav, Ripal Patel, and Axar Patel. Even Rovman Powell can also bowl a few overs if needed. However, Axar Patel’s role would be more important than any other all-rounder in the team as the left-armer is likely to play at number 4 for Delhi Capitals.

Why will Axar Patel bat at number 4 in IPL 2023?

Axar Patel usually bats at number seven or eight in the IPL. However, the batsman’s significant improvement in the past few years could easily slot him up in the batting order of Delhi Capitals.

Even in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Axar saved his team on a few occasions by making crucial runs.

1st Test: Axar Patel scored 84 runs off 174 balls in the 1st innings to take India’s total to 400 runs.

2nd Test: Axar Patel scored 74 runs off 115 balls in the 1st innings to take India’s total to 262 runs, which eventually ended up being the difference between the two teams as India went on to win the match by 6 wickets.

Axar Patel performed brilliantly against Sri Lanka in the recently concluded T20Is. Axar is batting at his peak and Delhi Capitals also need a batsman who can play the role of an anchor at the top. Axar can also make runs quickly, and hence, he would be perfectly suitable to play at number 4.

IPL 2023 will begin on 31st March 2023, and a total of 74 matches will be played in the tournament.
