When Ben Stokes was bought by Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023 auctions many cricketing experts claimed that he is going to be the next captain of CSK after MS Dhoni retires at the end of this IPL season. However, those talks have subsided since Stokes announced that he will skip a few matches of IPL in the later stages to prepare for the Ashes.
Ben Stokes recently suffered a knee injury in the second Test match against New Zealand. After the match was over Stokes revealed in the press conference that he has spoken to the Chennai Super Kings coach Stephen Fleming.

“I am going to the IPL. I have had conversations with ‘Flem’ and he’s fully aware of the situation with my body. It’s a week by week case at the moment,” Stokes said in the post-match press conference.
It is clear that Stokes will play the IPL but the time of his availability is going to be a matter of discussion.
