The Delhi Capitals have announced that South African pacer Anrich Nortje will not be available for the first few matches of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season. However, the franchise has already found a suitable replacement in the form of England’s Chris Jordan.
Jordan, who is known for his ability to bowl yorkers at the death, has played in the IPL before, having previously represented the Punjab Kings, The Chennai Super Kings and the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He will bring his experience and expertise to the Delhi Capitals’ bowling attack and provide a formidable option for Captain David Warner.
Nortje has been consistently giving up his best for the Delhi Capitals since 2020, picking up 43 wickets in 30 matches at an average of 21.30 and an economy rate of 8.06.
However, the team’s management is confident that Jordan will be able to fill Nortje’s shoes and make a significant impact in the tournament. The 34-year-old has a wealth of experience in T20 cricket, having played for various franchises in different parts of the world.

The Delhi Capitals will be hoping to build on their impressive performances like the previous 3 seasons. With a strong squad consisting of the likes of Prithvi Shaw, Mitchell Marsh, Lungi Ngidi, and Rovman Powell, they will be one of the teams to watch out for in IPL 2023.
Overall, the Delhi Capitals have made a smart move by signing Chris Jordan as a replacement for Anrich Nortje. With his skills, experience, and recent form, he will be an asset to the team and help them mount a serious challenge for the IPL title.
