Kris Srikkanth, former Indian cricketer and renowned commentator, has hailed Chennai Super Kings’ Matheesha Pathirana as the “second Malinga” for his exceptional performances in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The young bowler has impressed everyone with his accurate bowling and ability to target the right areas.
Matheesha Pathirana’s slingy action and consistency in clocking 140-plus speed have made him a dangerous bowler for the opposition. He has already taken four wickets in the three games he has played so far, with an average of 22.75 and an economy of 7.58. His sensational death bowling has also been a key reason for CSK’s success, as they currently top the points table.

Kris Srikkanth praised Pathirana’s performances and deemed him as a good investment by CSK. Speaking on Star Sports’ Cricket Live, he said, “This young bowler Pathirana is the second Malinga. He has a unique slinging action, clocks 140-plus consistently, and is very accurate. He also targets the right areas, which makes him a dangerous bowler. Very good investment from CSK.

The upcoming match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals on Thursday (27th April) will be an interesting contest as both teams have been performing well in the tournament.
