Ben Stokes was bought at a whopping price of Rs 16.25 Crores by Chennai Super Kings in the mini-auction. He is the third most expensive player of all time in IPL history, only behind the likes of Sam Curran and Cameron Green. CSK went all out for Stokes as they are looking for a potential captain of team. MS Dhoni is expected to retire from IPL after this season, and CSK needs a player who can take the responsibility of guiding the team after Dhoni’s departure.

Ben Stokes has revealed that he is going to play the one-off Test against Ireland to prepare for the Ashes. The Test against Ireland will start on 1st June 2023, after just after a day on which the IPL 2023 final is scheduled. This means that Stokes will fly out of India at least 7-10 days before the Test, and he will not represent CSK in the playoffs and probably their last couple of group stage matches as well.

The Ashes will begin on 16th June 2023. Ben Stokes will lead the side against the Aussies. Nevertheless, CSK needs to find a solution for their problems as Ben Stokes will leave a huge hole in their playing XI which can prove to be a deciding factor if the team reaches the playoffs.
