IPL 2023: David Warner could be replaced as DC captain halfway through the tournament– Reports

Delhi Capitals is playing without their regular skipper (Rishabh Pant) in IPL 2023, and David Warner, who is leading the Delhi side in the ongoing IPL, has not been able to impress the management with his performance as a captain as DC is yet to win a game in IPL 2023.

David Warner made SRH win IPL 2016 with his leadership skills. However, 7 years later, it seems he is not in the same room as he was back then. Hence, some reports state that David Warner could be replaced as DC captain halfway through IPL 2023.

There are several reasons why the DC management may take this decision.

David Warner made some questionable decisions in IPL 2023. Handing the ball to Mukesh Kumar ahead of Anrich Nortje at a critical juncture in the game and taking the decision to bowl first in their defeats to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) are some of them.

Moreover, DC would be needing Warner the batter desperately. Captaincy brings different sets of responsibilities and many great batsmen have been seen struggling to perform with those responsibilities over their head. If the shroud of captaincy is lifted off Warner, there is a chance that he might return to his dangerous best.

    DELHI CAPITALS:

David Warner (c), Prithvi Shaw, Ripal Patel, Rovman Powell, Sarfaraz Khan, Yash Dhull, Mitchell Marsh, Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, Anrich Nortje, Chetan Sakariya, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Khaleel Ahmed, Lungi Ngidi, Mustafizur Rahman, Aman Khan, Kuldeep Yadav, Praveen Dubey, Vicky Ostwal, Ishant Sharma, Phil Salt, Mukesh Kumar, Manish Pandey, Rilee Rossouw, Abishek Porel (replacement).
