David Warner, the newly-appointed captain of the Delhi Capitals, expressed his gratitude towards the franchise for entrusting him with the leadership duties for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The left-handed batter, who has previously led the SunRisers Hyderabad to the title in 2016, thanked the management for their faith and trust in him and is eager to lead a talented group of players. However, he admitted that the team will miss the leadership of Rishabh Pant, who has been a terrific leader for the Capitals.
Warner returned to the Capitals last year after seven years with SunRisers and had a successful IPL 2022 season, scoring 432 runs in 12 games at an average of 48 and striking at 150.52 with five fifties. The Capitals also named Axar Patel as the vice-captain for the upcoming edition.
