Even before the start of IPL 2023, MI have gone through two shockers. They have lost the best pacer of the tournament, Jasprit Bumrah, and their star overseas pacer, Jhye Richardson. Nevertheless, MI have a good batting line-up with the likes of many superstars like Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Cameron Green, Suryakumar Yadav, etc.
However, the question arises, what should be the batting order of Mumbai Indians for IPL 2023. While it’s fixed that Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan would open the innings, who should come at number 3?
We have two strong contenders for the number 3 spot – Suryakumar Yadav and Dewald Brevis, and as per reports, Dewald Brevis is likely to bat at number 3, ahead of Suryakumar Yadav.
SKY has been the most impressive T20I batter in the history of T20I cricket. Not only has he been consistent but he has also been belligerent in his approach. However, Mumbai Indians could make Brevis play ahead of him, at number 3. This should not be a surprising decision as Brevis batted ahead of Suryakumar Yadav in IPL 2022 too. Brevis can change gear anytime he wants and can keep the momentum going so that the upcoming batsmen could play freely.
