Gujarat Titans star batsman Kane Williamson has been ruled out of the entire tournament of IPL 2023 after he got injured while taking a catch in the opening match of IPL 2023 against Chennai Super Kings. But do you know, Kane will receive his full IPL salary despite missing the tournament?
No, that’s not the case with every ruled out player as players like Jasprit Bumrah, Jhye Richardson, Will Jacks, etc. will not receive his full IPL salary. Why so?
As per the IPL rules, if a player gets injured before the tournament and is ruled out of the tournament, the franchise may not have to pay him the salary. The franchise will pay only if the player features in a few matches, that too on a pro-rata basis. But, if the player gets injured during the tournament, then the franchise will not only have to take care of the medical expenditure of the tournament, but if he gets ruled out, the salary too will have to be paid in full.

As for the availability of players is concerned, if a player leaves for national duty in the middle of the tournament, he will only get paid for the matches he has been with the team and it is similar for the late joiners as well. However, if a player is available for the entirety of the tournament and doesn’t get to play a single game, he will be paid in full as well.
Kane Williamson was sold at his base price of INR 2 crore in IPL 2023 auction.
