In the IPL 2023 auction, Sunrisers Hyderabad landed with the highest salary purse and spent a hefty amount to strengthen their batting. But, till now the franchisee is not able to see its benefit. Hyderabad is at 10th position in the team points table. The team has lost both its first matches. A day earlier, Lucknow Super Giants easily defeated Hyderabad by 5 wickets at their home.
Sunrisers Hyderabad batted first against Lucknow Super Giants. But, the team could only score 121 runs in 20 overs. The Lucknow team, captained by KL Rahul, achieved this target by losing 5 wickets. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batting has failed so far this season. A veteran Indian batsman also flopped for the second consecutive match. Due to the poor performance of this player, he was discharged from Team India. Recently, this player was also dropped from the Central Contract List and now the threat to the IPL career of this veteran is also deepening.

We are talking about Mayank Agarwal, the opener of Team India. Mayank failed to play big innings in the first two matches of IPL 2023. While opening the innings against Lucknow Super Giants, Mayank was dismissed after scoring 8 runs in just 7 balls and in the first match against Rajasthan Royals, Mayank was dismissed after scoring 27 runs off 23 balls. If Mayank shows the same lackluster performance in the upcoming matches, then he may be sidelined in the IPL as well.
BCCI recently announced its annual contract list. Mayank Agarwal’s name was not there in this list as well. He had failed to make it to any grade. Mayank had a poor performance in the home Test series against Sri Lanka last year. Since then he is running out of Team India. In his absence, Shubman Gill has done well in the top order.
