IPL 2023: Former Players Criticize Prithvi Shaw’s Performance in IPL 2023

Brett Lee and Scott Styris Share their Opinions on Shaw's Lacklustre Performance in the Tournament

The IPL has been a breeding ground for young talent, with many players making their way into the national team after impressing selectors. However, not all the young guns have been able to live up to the expectations in IPL 2023.

Shaw Out

Prithvi Shaw, the Indian opener who was recently recalled to the T20 side, has been facing criticism for his lackluster performance in the tournament. In six games, Shaw has only managed to score 47 runs, failing to make an impact for his team.

On the other hand, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has been making headlines for his outstanding performances in domestic cricket, has continued his stellar run in IPL 2023. Former Australian pacer Brett Lee has been impressed by Jaiswal’s temperament and strike rate, predicting a bright future for the young batsman in the national team.

Former New Zealand all-rounder Scott Styris, however, has a different opinion on Shaw’s future prospects. According to Styris, Shaw has a long way to go before he can get a call-up for the national team. The opener needs to pull up his socks and outshine everyone in domestic cricket, as well as perform well in the IPL, in order to make his way into the Indian team.

The criticism faced by Shaw from former players has sparked a debate among fans and cricket enthusiasts, with many questioning the opener’s ability to perform at the highest level. Shaw will need to up his game and prove his worth in the remaining matches of IPL 2023 to silence his critics and secure a place in the Indian team.

Shaw

As the IPL continues to provide a platform for young talent to showcase their skills, the pressure to perform and make a mark at the highest level will only continue to grow. It remains to be seen whether Shaw can rise to the challenge and prove his detractors wrong.
