IPL 2023 | GT vs KKR: Wriddhiman Saha praises his opening partner Shubman Gill for making batting easy

Gujarat Titans' opener outlines the importance of his partnership with Gill and discusses the differences between IPL and domestic cricket preparation

Wriddhiman Saha, the experienced keeper-batsman for Gujarat Titans, has hailed his opening partner Shubman Gill’s remarkable form and described how easy it is to bat with him. Gill has been on fire in 2023, smashing five centuries across all-three formats for the India National Cricket Team, and he continued his impressive form by scoring 63 runs off just 36 balls in the IPL 2023 opener against Chennai Super Kings.

Gill and Saha

Saha believes that Gill’s contribution is critical to Gujarat Titans’ success this season, saying, “We know that if Gujarat Titans have to do well, myself, Shubman, and Sai at No 3 have to bat well. Then it becomes easier for the team.”

Gill

Saha went on to explain that Gill’s presence at the other end helps him play his natural game with ease. When Gill is around, Saha and other batters can play more freely, and the approach becomes much easier. The duo’s opening partnership will be essential for Gujarat Titans to repeat their success from last year.

Besides, Saha highlighted the difference in preparation between the domestic circuit and the IPL. He stated that preparing for the IPL is much more challenging as the opposition is equally plotting your downfall. However, with his vast experience, Saha is aware of the importance of being mentally and physically prepared to take on any challenge.

Saha

Gujarat Titans have won their first two matches in IPL 2023 and will be looking to continue their winning ways when they face Kolkata Knight Riders on April 9. The Saha-Gill partnership will undoubtedly be crucial in their quest for another IPL trophy.
