The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have announced that Karun Nair will replace the injured KL Rahul for the remainder of IPL 2023. Rahul suffered a thigh injury during a game against Royal Challengers Bangalore and has been ruled out of the tournament. Nair, who was released by Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022, will join the LSG for INR 50 lakh.
Karun Nair, a 31-year-old right-handed batter, has played for several IPL teams, including Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab, Delhi Daredevils, and Royal Challengers Bangalore. In 76 IPL games, Nair has scored 1496 runs with 13 fifties and an average of 23.75.

Krunal Pandya will take over as captain for LSG’s upcoming game against Gujarat Titans on May 7. LSG is currently in the top four with five wins in ten matches and 11 points. In their last match against Chennai Super Kings, they recovered from a perilous position of 44-5 to post 125-7 thanks to Ayush Badoni’s unbeaten fifty. But apparently the match ended in no result and both the teams shared a solitary point.

Apart from the IPL, Rahul’s injury will also force him to miss the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia on June 7th. The stylish right-hander announced on his official Instagram handle that he will undergo rehabilitation for his thigh injury.
With Nair joining in, LSG will hope to continue their good run in the tournament and make a strong push for the playoffs. Fans will be eager to see how the new captain will lead the team and whether they can maintain their form in the upcoming games.
