IPL 2023 | KKR vs MI: Virat Kohli admires Rinku Singh’s IPL heroics but admits he cannot replicate them

Former India captain impressed by young players' performances in IPL 2023, including Singh's incredible five sixes in last over for KKR against Gujarat Titans. Kohli suggests KKR should promote Singh up the order.

Virat Kohli, the ex-captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), has lauded Rinku Singh’s breathtaking knock against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Singh had smashed five consecutive sixes in the last over to secure a thrilling victory for his team. Kohli admitted in an interview with Robin Uthappa for Jio Cinema that he couldn’t even think of replicating such a feat.

Singh has been in excellent form in the ongoing IPL 2023, scoring 156 runs in four innings and occupying the eighth spot on the Orange Cap leaderboard. He continued to impress even in KKR’s recent loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he scored a quickfire 58 off 31 balls despite being sent in at no.7.

Cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra has suggested that KKR could promote Singh up the batting order to maximize his potential. In his YouTube channel, Chopra said that Singh batted beautifully once again and should be sent up the order. He also pointed out that KKR had sent Sunil Narine and Andre Russell ahead of Singh, which could be rectified in the next match against Mumbai Indians (MI).

As KKR prepares to face MI, Rinku Singh will be hoping to continue his good form and help his team secure a crucial victory. With the support of his captain Nitish Rana and the guidance of KKR coach Panjit Ji, he could potentially become one of the standout performers of IPL 2023.
