IPL 2023 | LSG vs PBKS: Wasim Jaffer slams LSG captain KL Rahul’s performance against RCB, urges him to change his intent in batting ahead of their clash against PBKS

Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer expressed his surprise and disappointment with Rahul's performance against Royal Challengers Bangalore calling it "painful." Jaffer believes that Rahul needs to lead the team from the front and change his intent while batting.

Former Indian Cricket Team batter, Wasim Jaffer, has recently shared his opinion on the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain, KL Rahul’s “painful” performance in the 15th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Jaffer criticized Rahul’s lack of intent and called for him to change his approach to the game.

The match between LSG and RCB took place on April 10 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. RCB posted a massive 212/2 on the board, with brilliant performances from Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, and Glenn Maxwell. However, LSG struggled in their chase, with Rahul failing to get going and struggling to time the balls. He was dismissed by pacer Mohammed Siraj in the 12th over after scoring just 18 runs off 20 balls, including one four.

Speaking on ESPNcricinfo, Jaffer expressed his surprise at Rahul’s performance and highlighted the importance of the LSG captain leading from the front. He also urged Rahul to change his intent while batting and take advantage of the team’s strong batting line-up, which includes Krunal Pandya and Deepak Hooda, who haven’t fired yet.

Team LSG

Jaffer acknowledged Rahul’s potential to play an aggressive brand of cricket and said that he just needs to play with a more positive intent. He added that Rahul’s slow start to his innings puts pressure on other batters in the team and forces them to take unnecessary risks.

The KL Rahul-led LSG will face Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 21st match of the IPL 2023 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on April 15.
