The Mumbai Indians Star Batsman Discusses His Connection with the Iconic Stadium and Desire to Make Quality Efforts for the Fans

Suryakumar Yadav, one of the top T20I players in the world, is all set to return to Wankhede Stadium for the much-anticipated clash between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. The five-time IPL champions got off to a shaky start this season, with a defeat to RCB in their opening game. Suryakumar, who is going through a rare slump in form, is determined to make “quality efforts” and play consistently in front of the incredible crowd at Wankhede.

The Mumbai Indians’ star batsman is no stranger to the iconic stadium, having played several important games there in his career. Yadav shared one of his earliest memories of playing at Wankhede, saying he felt like he was returning to his place of origin when he first came back to the stadium in 2018 after a short break. He has a strong connection with the stadium, having played age-group tournaments, domestic games, and even during the Indian Premier League at Wankhede.

Yadav, who has scored 457 runs at an average of 30.46 for MI at the Wankhede Stadium, is eager to put in quality efforts and play consistently in front of the incredible crowd. “The feeling you get when you make runs and play shots at the stadium is a very different feeling,” he said.

The star batsman also emphasized the importance of hard work and quality efforts, saying he has been working hard since his return to the franchise and has never looked back. Despite the team’s recent struggles with low totals, Suryakumar remains a crucial part of the Mumbai Indians’ middle order.
