IPL 2023 will kick off with MS Dhoni’s CSK going against Hardik Pandya’s GT on 31st March 2023. The tournament is going to have a total of 74 matches including 4 playoff games. It is expected that the tournament will last till 31st May 2023. Chennai Super Kings, the four time champions have relied on MS Dhoni to win the tournament multiple times. However, it is a fact that Dhoni won’t last in the tournament forever as the captain of Chennai Super Kings and they need to find a deputy who can take over the role of captaincy in future.
MS Dhoni to Retire after IPL 2023
Dhoni is already 42 years old and he is surely not getting any younger. In the previous IPL Dhoni decided to give up the captaincy to make Ravindra Jadeja the captain of Chennai Super Kings. But the move failed as Jadeja failed to handle the leadership role. In the middle of the tournament Dhoni was again established as the captain of the franchise.

In IPL 2023 auction, Ben Stokes was bought by Cheenai Super Kings and it is speculated that he will succeed MS Dhoni as the captain of the team in IPL 2024. Dhoni is expected to retire after this season and hand over the CSK captaincy to Ben Stokes.
