Punjab Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders Match Highlights
Punjab Kings had a solid start with Prabhsimran Singh and Shikhar Dhawan providing valuable contributions at the top of the order. Prabhsimran scored 23 off 12 deliveries before being dismissed by Tim Southee. Dhawan played an anchor role and scored 40 off 29 balls before being sent back to the pavilion by Varun Chakravarthy. The standout performer with the bat for PBKS was Bhanuka Rajapaksa, who scored an impressive half-century but was eventually dismissed by Umesh Yadav. Although it seemed like Punjab Kings would score beyond 200 at one point, the KKR bowlers pulled back the run rate in the death overs. Jitesh Sharma and debutant Sikandar Raza scored 21 off 11 and 16 off 13 respectively. Sam Curran remained unbeaten on 26 off 17 as Punjab Kings finished their innings with a total of 191/5 in 20 overs.
Kolkata Knight Riders struggled throughout the chase as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Venkatesh Iyer, who was brought in as the impact player, was the second-highest scorer for KKR with 34 runs. Andre Russell contributed with a quickfire 35 off 19, but it was not enough to surpass the DLS target once the rain arrived. When the rain came, KKR needed 46 runs off 4 overs to win the game, and they eventually lost by 7 runs. Arshdeep Singh was instrumental in dismissing three of the KKR batsmen during the match.
