IPL 2023 | PBKS vs MI: Harbhajan Singh suggests Punjab Kings need to learn to rotate strike from Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis

Cricketer-turned-commentator analyzes PBKS loss against RCB and emphasizes the importance of strike rotation in T20 cricket.

Cricketer-turned-commentator Harbhajan Singh has given his take on the recent match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Singh suggested that PBKS’ inability to rotate the strike was the main reason for their defeat against RCB, who put up a decent total of 175 runs while batting first. PBKS did attempt to attack from the beginning, but frequent wickets meant they never quite picked up the momentum. The team was ultimately bowled out for 150 runs, with Prabhsimran Singh scoring the highest with 46 runs off 30 balls.

Punjab Kings

During a review of the game on his YouTube channel, Singh opined that Prabhsimran and other PBKS batters need to learn the art of rotating the strike, emphasizing that taking singles and rotating strike is as important as playing big shots. He pointed to players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Faf du Plessis as successful players who understand the importance of strike rotation.

Singh also expressed his opinion on the PBKS captaincy situation, stating that the team should support Shikhar Dhawan as their captain. Dhawan has been out due to injury for the past two matches, with Sam Curran acting as captain in his stead. Singh believes that Dhawan has been the only match-winner for PBKS and that the rest of the team needs to support him in contributing to winning. Singh added that the team cannot rely solely on Dhawan and must take responsibility if they want to move forward.

Du Plessis - Virat

PBKS will be taking on Mumbai Indians (MI) in their upcoming match on April 22. As fans eagerly await the match, it remains to be seen whether PBKS will take Harbhajan Singh’s advice to heart and improve their strike rotation, or if they will continue to struggle in this aspect.
