The IPL 2023 is introducing a new rule in the game – The Impact Player Rule. The rule is going to be introduced from this season onwards and it promises to give a new dimension to the tournament.
According to the Impact Player rule, each team will name four substitutes along with their starting XI on the team sheet before the toss. One of these four substitutes can later take an active part in the match as an Impact Player. The Impact Player can only be an Indian player unless the franchise has fewer than four overseas players in the Playing XI.
Players CSK could possibly use as an ‘Impact Player’.
For CSK, although their first XI is pretty much set, four players who can play as Impact player are:
If CSK Batting 2nd: Ajinkya Rahane, Dwaine Pretorious
Ajinkya Rahane could be a dependable option at the top or even at the middle order. Similarly, Dwaine Pretorius could also make runs quickly by hitting big shots when needed. Hence, any of these batsmen could be used as an ‘Impact Player’ depending upon the situation of the team.
IF CSK Bowling 2nd: Sisanda Magala, Simarjeet Singh
Sisanda Magala has been added to CSK’s squad as a replacement for Kyle Jamieson. He is a very talented all-rounder and could contribute immensely with both bat and ball. Similarly, Simarjeet Singh could also be called when the team needs a breakthrough. Hence, any of these bowlers could be used as an ‘Impact Player’ depending upon the situation of the team.
