IPL 2023 RAJ vs PUN: Injury Updates for Match 8 of the Tournament

Few players from both RAJ & PUN will miss the upcoming match due to national commitments, while few are struggling through injuries.

On Wednesday, April 5, the 8th match of IPL 2023 will take place at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, where Rajasthan Royals (RAJ) will face off against Punjab Kings (PUN).

IPL 2023 RAJ vs PUN: Injury Updates for Match 8 of the Tournament

The two teams are set to face each other in Barsapara Cricket Stadium, at Guwahati. The Rajasthan Royals is led by Sanju Samson, and Shikhar Dhawan is the new captain of Punjab Kings.

Both the teams have many superstars in their squad and the fans are expecting a blockbuster match between the power-packed Rajasthan Royals and star-stunned Punjab Kings. However, a few players from both these teams are also struggling through injuries or will miss the match 8 of the tournament due to national commitments.

RAJ vs PUN: Injury Updates for Match 8 of the Tournament

Rajasthan Royals

Due to a lumbar stress fracture, Rajasthan Royals’ pacer Prasidh Krishna was ruled out of IPL 2023. Consequently, the Royals have brought in swing bowler Sandeep Sharma as a replacement for Krishna.

Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings will miss the services of English player Jonny Bairstow, who has been ruled out of the entire IPL due to a leg injury he had sustained while playing golf last September. In his place, Punjab Kings have brought in BBL’s player-of-the-tournament this season, Matthew Short, who is expected to open the batting alongside Dhawan.

Other key players who will miss the opening game for Punjab Kings are all-rounder Liam Livingstone, who is yet to get clearance from the ECB following a knee injury.

Player Missing: Jonny Bairstow

The upcoming match will witness two teams, Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals, facing each other, both with a victory in their respective opening games of IPL 2023. Punjab Kings, led by Shikhar Dhawan, managed to secure a win over Kolkata Knight Riders despite the absence of their key players, Livingstone and Rabada. Meanwhile, the Royals would be hoping to carry forward the momentum from their previous game, where their attacking top-order batting, incisive new-ball performance, and tight spin bowling led them to a convincing win over Sunrisers Hyderabad.
