Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) maintained their winning streak by defeating Rajasthan Royals (RR) by seven runs in the IPL 2023 match at Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday. Rajasthan needed 190 to win and lost their star opener Jos Buttler for 0 but a good performance from Devdutt Padikkal and Yashasvi Jaiswal brought their innings back on track.
Padikkal perished for 52(34) against David Willey after adding 98 runs for the second wicket. Yashasvi 47(37) and Sanju Samson 22(15) were also quickly dismissed. Shimron Hetmyer was run-out for 3(9) after failing to locate the big hits, but a late cameo by Dhruv Jurel kept Rajasthan in the chase.

Jurelonly got to face the final delivery with 20 required in the final over, when the match was already out of RR’s hands as they added 182/6 in 20 overs. Earlier, Rajasthan bowlers staged an incredible comeback after being thrashed by Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell. Both hitters hit half-centuries as RCB racked up a daunting 189/9 in 20 overs.
Trent Boult startled the home side and reduced them to 12/2 in 2.1 overs, prompting the duo to enter the fray. Unfazed by the early hits, which included the coveted wicket of Virat Kohli 0(1), Maxwell and Du Plessis wasted little time in putting up 127(67) runs for the third wicket. Yashasvi ended Du Plessis’ 62(39) knock with a direct hit. R Ashwin sent back Maxwell on 77(44).
