Yashasvi Jaiswal credits Jos Buttler for his explosive start to IPL 2023 with Rajasthan Royals (RR). The 21-year-old Mumbai batter has scored 125 runs in three matches with an average of 41.67 and a strike rate of over 164, thanks in large part to his opening partnership with the England captain.

    Jos and Jaiswal

After being named Player of the Match for his 31-ball-60, Jaiswal opened up about his learning experience with Buttler, saying, “It was amazing, enjoying a lot while batting. When Jos is there, he gives you very good messages, just try to play good cricketing shots… I have worked hard. Trying to express myself. Learning is important for me. Growing as a young player is important for me.”

Jaiswal’s potential was evident when he became the Player of the Tournament of the 2020 U-19 World Cup. Now, he’s eyeing a spot in the India National Cricket Team for the 2024 T20 World Cup, and the lessons he’s learned from Buttler are helping him achieve that goal.

“I think everything I learn from Buttler. I try to see how he practices. I knew I can take on a few bowlers,” Jaiswal said. He also discussed his aggressive batting against Delhi Capitals, saying, “Some day you see the ball very well. I play my shots and express myself, I had that confidence. I kept telling myself if it’s a loose ball I will punish it. I will try to score runs.”

Jaiswal and Rajasthan Royals will look to continue their momentum into their next match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 12. While it might be too late for him to be in contention for the 2023 ODI World Cup, Jaiswal’s performance in the IPL could help him secure a spot in the national team for the T20 World Cup in 2024.

    Yash and Buttler

Overall, Jaiswal’s story is one of growth and potential. He’s proving himself to be one of the most exciting young talents in the IPL, and with Buttler’s guidance, he could become a star player for the India National Cricket Team in the years to come. Fans will be eagerly watching his performance in the upcoming matches, and the cricket world could be witnessing the rise of a future superstar.
