Former Indian cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra has emphasized the importance of Prithvi Shaw’s contribution with the bat in Delhi Capitals’ upcoming IPL 2023 clash against Rajasthan Royals. While previewing the match on his YouTube channel, Chopra mentioned that DC might consider replacing Rilee Rossouw with Rovman Powell in their playing XI, and highlighted the need for Shaw to score runs in the game.
DC has lost both of their first two matches in the tournament and desperately needs a win to get their campaign back on track. Chopra believes that Shaw’s poor form in the first two games has contributed to the team’s struggles, and he must deliver the goods against the Royals.

Chopra also mentioned that David Warner and Mitchell Marsh will have to contribute with the bat as well, with Marsh’s availability uncertain due to his impending wedding. Rovman Powell could replace the Australian all-rounder in DC’s lineup in that case.

While analyzing the Royals’ chances, Chopra expressed his concerns about Jos Buttler’s possible unavailability for the game. He questioned the franchise’s decision to open with Ravichandran Ashwin in the previous match against the Punjab Kings and suggested that Joe Root could replace Buttler in the starting XI.
Chopra predicted a tough game for DC and suggested that the Royals have a stronger team heading into the clash. He added that Jason Holder would be a crucial player for the Royals, given his ability to pick up wickets and bowl well in the death overs. DC and RR will lock horns in Guwahati on Saturday, April 8, with both teams looking to secure a crucial win in the tournament.
