The Indian Premier League (IPL) never fails to provide some unexpected moments and Andre Russell’s antics at the non-striker’s end during the KKR vs DC match on April 21, 2023, were certainly no exception. While Kuldeep Yadav was on a hat-trick, Russell was seen taking guard with his head facing deep midwicket, seemingly lost in his own world. The moment quickly went viral and fans couldn’t help but share their reactions.

Although KKR eventually lost the match by four wickets, Russell did his best to keep his team in the game with an unbeaten 38 off 23 balls. He hit four sixes and a boundary, which helped lift KKR’s total to 120 after they were struggling at less than 100 for 8 wickets. Kuldeep Yadav had taken two wickets in two balls and was on a hat-trick, but Russell’s late fireworks gave KKR something to cheer for.

In the final over of the innings, Russell hit three consecutive sixes, including one that went 109 meters, the fourth longest six of IPL 2023. However, with the ball, Russell only managed to bowl one over and conceded 12 runs as KKR tried to defend their low total. Varun Chakravarthy, Jason Roy, and Nitish Rana each picked up two wickets, leaving Delhi Capitals in a spot of bother at 93/4. But David Warner’s unbeaten 57 off 41 balls and Axar Patel’s calm innings guided Delhi Capitals to their first win of IPL 2023.

The match was a thrilling affair, with plenty of ups and downs. Despite the loss, Russell’s ‘THE BOYS’ moment at the non-striker’s end will certainly be remembered as one of the funniest moments of the season. Fans will no doubt be eagerly awaiting more unpredictable moments as the tournament progresses. Meanwhile Delhi Capitals will now gear up on Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 24.
