Lucknow Super Giants lost against Gujarat Titans in the most baffling way possible. They have earned the title of the chokers with this loss.
Just when you thought nothing could top Rinku Singh’s final over heroics, Gujarat Titans (GT) were embroiled in yet another last over drama, with the only difference being that they came out on top this time. Mohit Sharma, a rejected India bowler, produced a brilliant over with 12 required in the last six deliveries as Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) lost four wickets and scored only four runs.
Mohit’s precise performance helped Lucknow to 128/7 in 20 overs, falling seven runs short of the 136-run mark. The hitters that were dismissed were KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, Ayush Badoni, and Deepak Hooda. The first two were snagged in the deep, while the last two returned to the pavilion after failing to perform the critical task.
In terms of the pursuit, LSG’s opening combination of Rahul and Kyle Mayers got them off to a good start. Rashid Khan dismissed Mayers for 24(19) after they had scored 55 runs for the first wicket. Krunal Pandya then joined the chase and made 51 runs for the second wicket with the LSG captain before being caught for run a ball 23.
Nicholas Pooran was then quickly dismissed for 1(7). Earlier, LSG bowlers put up a fantastic performance, limiting Gujarat to 135/6 in 20 overs after deciding to bat first. Shubman Gill was out for 0, while Wriddhiman Saha and skipper Hardik Pandya accumulated 68 runs for the second wicket before the wicketkeeper-batter was dismissed for 47(37).
Hardik Pandya hit 66(50) before being caught by Stoinis in the last over. Looking at LSG bowlers, Krunal took two wickets and surrendered only 16 runs in his whole quota. Stoinis also took two wickets, both in the penultimate over, and gave up 20 runs in three overs. Naveen-ul-Haq and Amit Mishra each took one wicket.
