IPL 2023 Yesterday Match Result PBKS vs GT: Rahul Tewatia Clinches the Thriller for His Team

Gujarat Titans defeated Punjab Kings by 6 wickets

Gujarat Titans moved to the top of the points table with a six-wicket win against Punjab Kings on Thursday. While Sam Surran nearly pulled off a robbery with an outstanding last over, Iceman Rahul Tewatia kept his composure to score the game-winning run. But it was Shubman Gill’s 49-ball 67 that helped GT chase down a 154-run target. Previously, Punjab Kings battled once again, with Mohit Sharma bagging 2/18 in the IPL 2023 comeback after a four-year absence. However, Shahrukh Khan’s 9-ball 22 guided them to a 153/8 victory at Mohali.

Sent into bat by GT captain Hardik Pandya, PBKS lost Prabhsimran Singh in the second ball of the over. Short walked in at No 3 and showed glimpses of his form in BBL 2022.

Australia’s Short, who has done well for Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League back home, took on Shami and hit him for back-to-back fours including an authoritative boundary through mid-off.

However, just when PBKS seemed to be putting GT under pressure, Little gave a huge breakthrough, dismissing the dangerous Dhawan (8).

Gujarat Titans got another big wicket when Rashid (1/26 in 4 overs) foxed a well-settled Short with a googly.

Having struck a flurry of fours and a massive six off Joseph, Short had settled down nicely but looked clueless when Rashid decided to bowl the wrong’un.

Short’s dismissal set PBKS a bit, and it became trickier when Jitesh Sharma (25 off 23 balls) was sent back by Mohit. Sam Curran (22) struck a much-needed six a big maximum over deep midwicket after star leg-spinner Rashid missed his length.

Sri Lankan Bhanuka Rajapaksa did not convince in his 26-ball 20, until his stay in the middle was cut short by Joseph.

Shahrukh Khan smashed the first ball he faced for a six over deep midwicket, before picking up another maximum off Shami.

In reply, it was the Shubman Gill show from the Gujarat Titans. He carried his team throughout the chase and was dismissed in the final over the match. Following which, Rahul Tewatia smashed a boundary to win the game for his team.
