Rajasthan Royals defeated Delhi Capitals by a huge margin of 57 runs in yesterday’s match at Guwahati on the back of brilliant half centuries by Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler and a three-wicket haul from Trent Boult. Delhi Capitals have registered their consecutive loss in the tournament and currently stand at the last position in the points table.
IPL 2023 Yesterday Match Result RR vs DC: Royals Hammer Capitals by 57 Runs in a Major Victory
Delhi Capitals won the toss and opted to field first. A decision which they regretted very soon as both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler were on fire. Jaiswal, in particular, in the powerplay, played attacking cricket and made sure RR crossed the 60-run mark in just 6 overs. He departed after scoring a quickfire 60 off 31.
Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag could not do much and were sent back quite cheaply. Jos Buttler took charge after the middle overs and scored 79 off 51 to help his team get close to 200 runs. Shimron Hetmyer was brilliant at the death, and he smashed 39* off just 21 to guide his team to a great total of 199 runs.
Chasing 199, Delhi needed to start well, but Trent Boult bowled a maiden with two wickets in the first over of the chase. He sent back Prithvi Shaw and Manish Pandey. After this, the Delhi Capitals could not recover at all.
David Warner was the lone warrior with 65 off 55, but his strike rate is under scrutiny. Delhi Capitals failed to get back in the chase after the initial blows and succumbed to the third loss in the tournament.
