On Thursday, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by five runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad in IPL 2023 Match 47. SRH reached 166/8 in 20 overs while chasing a 172-run mark. Aiden Markram (41) and Heinrich Klaasen (36) batted well but couldn’t save the game.
Shardul Thakur and Vaibhav Arora each took two wickets for the KKR bowling attack. Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh both contributed significantly to KKR’s 171/9 in 20 overs. KKR witnessed Rana score 42 runs off 31 balls, including three fours and three sixes, in an inning where their batting order failed. Rinku, on the other hand, hit 46 off 35 deliveries, including four fours and a six. T Natarajan and Marco Jansen both had two dismissals for SRH.
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s self-destructive bats let them down again, handing Kolkata Knight Riders a much-needed five-run win in the IPL here on Thursday, keeping the Nitish Rana-led team alive in the tournament.
KKR won their fourth game of the season and is currently on eight points, while SRH, who is still on six points, took a severe blow to their chances of making the playoffs.
