IPL 2023 Yesterday Match Result SRH vs PBKS: Dhawan’s 99 Not Enough for the Kings

Sunrisers Hyderabad opened their account in IPL 2023 with an 8-wicket victory over Punjab Kings. After bowlers assisted SRH in limiting PBKS to 143/9, Rahul Tripathi hit an unbeaten 74 off 48 balls to help the team reach the mark in 17.1 overs. Shikhar Dhawan, on the other hand, deserves credit for leading PBKS to 143 with an unbeaten 99. Mayank Markande’s 4-wicket haul in SRH debut was also remarkable.

With the victory, SRH moved up to eighth place with one win and two losses in three matches and two points. PBKS has dropped to sixth place with two wins and a loss in two matches and four points. SRH got off to a good start in their pursuit of 144 runs, with openers Mayank Agarwal and Harry Brook hitting some superb strokes.

Pacer Arshdeep Singh, on the other hand, resumed his reputation of striking in the powerplay, dismissing Brook for 13 off 14 balls. Brook’s performance in IPL 2023 was yet another letdown.

Mayank was joined by Rahul Tripathi, and the two led SRH through the remainder of the powerplay. Mayank’s quick knock of 21 in 20 balls was ended by Rahul Chahar’s spin.

However, that was the last of the PBKS bowlers. Rahul Tripathi and Aiden Makram are also on the charge. Tripathi was on a boundary-hitting binge, hitting Chahar for two consecutive fours in the ninth over and Harpreet Brar for three fours in the next.

SRH ended the chase successfully, finishing at 145/2 in 17.2 overs, with Tripathi (74* in 48 balls with 10 fours and three sixes) and Markram (37* off 21 balls with six fours). The duo also completed their 100-run stand in 52 balls.
