Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings, the top two teams from the IPL 2024 league stage, will fittingly contest the trophy tonight. KKR topped the table and secured their spot in the final by defeating SRH in Qualifier 1, forcing SRH to take the longer route by defeating Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 to secure their place.
Saturday was a rest day for SRH, who played their qualifier on Friday night. KKR, however, planned to fine-tune their preparations, but unexpected weather changes forced them indoors, resulting in a washed-out practice session.
KKR players had just started warming up with a game of football when rain hit Chennai, prompting the ground staff to cover the pitch. The rain was intermittent, and there was a moment when it seemed to relent, leading to the covers being removed. However, when the rain resumed, the KKR players had to leave.
