The last few months have not been good for Ishan Kishan. He played the last match for Team India in November 2023. After this, the wicketkeeper batter was again selected in the team on the South Africa tour, but Ishan decided to take a break from cricket citing personal reasons. After this, Ishan also refused to play Ranji matches, due to which he had to lose the central contract. Now Ishan broke the silence on all the incidents.
The then Indian head coach Rahul Dravid had said that if Ishan Kishan wants to make a comeback, he will have to play domestic cricket and perform in it. Now Ishan, while talking to ‘Indian Express’, said that he was not in the right mental state to play Ranji Trophy.
Ishan said, “I took a break and I thought it was simple. There is a rule that if you want to make a comeback, you have to perform in domestic cricket. It is simple. Now playing domestic cricket was very different for me because it was not making any sense. I was not in the right mental state to play and that is why I took a break from international cricket. It does not make any sense that you take a break from international cricket and go to play domestic cricket. Then you would have played international cricket only.”

Ishan further expressed his anger and said, “It was disappointing. Today I don’t want to say that everything is fine. It was not easy for me at all. You endure a lot. All this kept going on in my mind that what happened, what will happen, why it happened to me? All these things happened when I was performing.”
