Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Ramiz Raja, has criticized the appointment of Shahid Afridi as interim chief selector, saying that Afridi should not work for the PCB.
In an interview with Capital TV, Raja criticized the appointment of Afridi, saying that a person should “do a bit of research before joining any organization” and suggesting that Afridi should not work in the current environment at the PCB.
Raja’s comments come after he was sacked as PCB chairman following Pakistan’s 0-3 defeat against England. He was replaced by Najam Sethi, who appointed Afridi to the role of the chief selector. Afridi has said that he feels honored to head the selection committee and will fulfill his responsibilities.
This is not the first time that Raja has criticized the PCB and Sethi. But this time, his comments have sparked controversy and divided opinions among fans and experts in the cricketing community. Some believe that Afridi’s experience and knowledge of the game make him an ideal candidate for the position, while others agree with Raja’s assessment of the situation. It remains to be seen how Afridi’s tenure as chief selector will play out and if he will be able to bring success to the Pakistani cricket team.
