Kiran Navgire, born on 18 September 1994 in Solapur, Maharashtra, is an Indian cricketer who currently represents India women and Nagaland women. She made headlines by setting the record for the highest individual score in the Women’s Senior T20 Trophy, scoring an unbeaten 162 for Nagaland against Arunachal Pradesh in 2022. This achievement also made her the only Indian, male or female, to score over 150 in a T20 match. Her cricketing journey began with formal coaching at the Azam Campus in Pune, where she completed a two-year course in Physical Education.

Before transitioning to cricket, Kiran Navgire was an athlete. Her interest in cricket was sparked by witnessing former Indian Captain MS Dhoni’s winning six in the final match of the 2011 World Cup against Sri Lanka. She played cricket for the first time during her graduation from Savitribai Phule Pune University. She made her debut for her university in 2013-14 without any prior training. Additionally, she represented Pune University in Javelin throw, shot Put, and 100m events. In this article, we have covered all the details of Kiran Navgire’s family.

Kiran began her domestic cricket career with Maharashtra during the 2018–19 Senior Women’s One Day League. However, due to limited opportunities in the Maharashtra team, she opted to play as a guest player for Nagaland in the 2021-22 Women’s Senior T20 Trophy. This decision proved fruitful as she made a remarkable impact, scoring 162 off 76 balls against Arunachal Pradesh on April 15, 2022, at Barsapara Stadium, Guwahati. This outstanding performance made her the first Indian, male or female, to achieve a score of over 150 runs in a Twenty20 innings.

Kiran’s talents were further recognized when she was selected to join the Velocity squad for the 2022 Women’s T20 Challenge. Her debut match against the Trailblazers on May 26, 2022, was exceptional, as she scored a fifty off just 24 balls, setting a record for the fastest fifty in the Women’s T20 Challenge. Despite this early success, she faced a setback in the final, scoring a duck off 13 balls. Nevertheless, her performance caught the attention of the selectors, leading to her inclusion in the Indian women’s team for the T20 international series against England in September 2022.

Kiran’s journey into cricket began during her time at Savitribai Phule Pune University, where she represented the university cricket team from the 2013–14 to 2015–16 seasons, despite lacking formal training. Her athletic abilities were not limited to cricket, as she also represented Pune University in javelin throw, shot put, and the 100 meters. Her passion for sports led her to pursue a two-year course in physical education at the Azam Campus in Pune, where she received her initial formal training.
